Kaksparsh is the story of a maid, Nirmala (Nandita Das), who saves up for years to offer her now adult daughter, Kamla (Kaushika Handa), a good dowry so she can marry well. Poverty keeps Nirmala from her dream just as it tugs at Kamla's skirt hem. There are many obstacles that they both must face together, including the caste system and an arranged marriage. But with their deep love for each other, they find hope in their mother-daughter bond and learn how to rise above these challenges.
